Eating Clean, The Manly Way!
Or at least eating cleaner is something we can definitely introduce to our lifestyles. Buying premade, packaged food, can harbour extra calories, preservatives and fat that we didn’t think existed in those so-called “healthy” foods.
One way to know what is going into your food is simply by making it yourself. One such food is hummus or what I like to call it, man dip. People spread “man dip” on anything nowadays. You’ll find it at parties, appetizers at restaurants, basically everywhere.
So, if you enjoy hummus here is the recipe. I have added some chopped sun dried tomatoes as well to give it a nice little kick. You can add chilli flakes, roasted chopped veg etc. It’s very simple and you can breathe easier knowing what’s actually in it.
Guilt Free Hummus aka Man Dip
- 200g of chickpeas (i soaked my dry chickpeas for 24 hours, but you can use canned)
- 2 tbsp of lemon juice (or more to taste)
- 4 tbsp of water (or more if needed)
- 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp of paprika
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tsp of cumin- Salt (to taste)
- 100 ml of tahini
Process it all together and there you have it. I have used a blender as I don’t have a food processor. I had to really give it a good mix to be sure it was smooth, but it turned out really well.
